Jasmin Sparrow creates classic adornments that celebrate precious moments and acknowledge devotion. 

When did you fall in love with Jewellery and how did you turn it into a career?

My grandmother worked in a jewellery store for 30 years, and I have very fond childhood memories of visiting her while she was working. My sisters and I were often allowed to pick out pieces for birthdays and Christmas, and we loved exploring her extensive jewellery collection. I suppose my passion for jewellery started there. After exploring various creative pursuits after high school, I enrolled in jewellery school and immediately knew it was the right path for me.

What do you turn to for inspiration for your collections? nature/artists/music?

I draw inspiration from moments encountered daily. My phone is filled with a rich collection of images and screenshots—whether it’s a pair of earrings seen in an old film, shapes and forms found in nature, or patterns and motifs from paintings and sculptures. I’m always eagerly seeking out these moments of inspiration.

My favourite part of my job is gathering these moments and weaving them into a cohesive collection. This process not only shapes the final product but also influences the collection's mood, tone, campaign direction, and related imagery.

Who are some of your Jasmin Sparrow muses?

I am surrounded by a remarkable group of beautiful and intelligent women who inspire me daily. When I design, I do so with them in mind.

We love having a curated edit of Jasmin Sparrow jewellery in our KS stores, how do you think Jasmin Sparrow sits alongside the SS’24 collection?

I believe jewellery is the perfect finishing touch to any outfit, and it’s wonderful for customers to be able to shop for a complete look in one place. The brands complement each other beautifully, creating a perfect marriage of refined elegance and grace.

Why was Kate Sylvester a NZ brand you wanted to work with?

Kate Sylvester has made a notable impact on the New Zealand fashion industry, so I was honoured when her team reached out with the opportunity to collaborate. This partnership represents a significant milestone for Jasmin Sparrow.

You styled yourself for our Sylvester Sessions photoshoot. How would you define your personal style?

I love curating outfits, they define the mood and direction of my day, I find dressing well empowering. My wardrobe is a mix of vintage and designer pieces. Hunting for unique vintage pieces—whether at home or abroad—is one of my favourite things to do.

I often spend time going through my wardrobe and putting outfits together which I’ll document on my phone, it helps when I'm time poor or in need of inspiration. I believe that developing a distinctive personal style requires dedication and thoughtful effort.

What is your favourite piece from Kate’s finale collection for Spring Summer 2024?

I love the suiting, it’s beautifully tailored and feels so nice to wear.

What are you most excited for this Summer?

I love summer so much. I cannot wait for long days at the beach, enjoying sunshine and ocean swims with family and friends.
